Breast Ptosis — Tangier

Breast ptosis refers to sagging and drooping of the breasts, common after pregnancy, breastfeeding, or weight loss. At the Tangier Breast Institute, Dr Faïçal Sefrioui offers surgical correction of breast ptosis (breast lift/mastopexy) to restore shape and contour to the breasts.

Breast Lift (Mastopexy)

What Is Breast Ptosis?

Breast ptosis refers to sagging of the breast, with the breast tissue and nipple descending below the inframammary fold. It results from loosening of the skin and supportive breast tissue, often brought on by pregnancy, breastfeeding, significant weight loss, or the natural aging of the skin.

Who Is It For?

This procedure is for women with sagging breasts, drooping breast tissue, or a downward-pointing areola, regardless of breast size. It can be performed on its own or combined with breast augmentation or reduction depending on the situation.

How the Procedure Works

  1. A preliminary consultation assesses the degree of ptosis, skin quality and breast volume.

  2. The most suitable breast lift technique is determined based on this assessment.

  3. The procedure involves removing excess skin and repositioning the breast tissue and areola to restore a natural shape.

Can Ptosis Correction Be Combined with Augmentation or Reduction?

Yes, depending on the situation, correction of breast ptosis can be combined with implant placement (to also restore volume) or with breast reduction in cases of associated hypertrophy; the surgical plan is defined case by case during the consultation.

Recovery

Recovery involves a period of discomfort and swelling in the first few days, along with wearing a compression bra for several weeks. The final result becomes apparent gradually, as healing progresses.
